50th Anniversary Suggestions

Remember we are actively seeking your input towards the squadron's 50th Anniversary, which takes place next year. Currently we have received lots of suggestions from the staff and CWC members, however we have had no input from cadets or parents.

Please involve yourselves in this process by sending any suggestions to 2393.50committee@gmail.com. We are currently planning a large open day, which is set to take place on 06 OCT 12. Any ideas large or small on what we can include at the open day would be very much appreciated.

50th Anniversary Of 2393 Squadron

Billericay squadron was founded on 4th October 1962 and as such 2012 will bring about the 50th Anniversary of our squadron. As such the events we hold during 2012 will be 50th Anniversary branded. A 50th Anniversary Committee has been formed to manage the organisation of these events. The committee members are Sgt Davis, CI Pether, Fern Sammons (Treasurer), Sgt Longman and Cdt Walsh. We are primarily looking towards Dining In Night, Stock Fete and a large open / fun day close to the date of the anniversary where we will have various activities taking place for cadets, parents, friends and the local community.

However we can't come up with all the ideas on our own, therefore we have created an email address for all of you to send your ideas and suggestions on how we can make the celebrations a great success. Do you have an idea on what we could include at our open day, or in fact anything we can do at any of our events during the year? There have been some big ideas bought forward already so please do be forthcoming with yours! Please email us at 2393.50committee@gmail.com all ideas will be considered no matter how large or small.

Where To Buy Shoes And Boots

Cadets are required to wear a particular type of shoe and boot. These can be purchased from several places including army surplus stores and the cadet direct website. Here is a pair of new MOD produced male parade shoes on the cadet direct website: http://www.cadetdirect.com/order1.php?pg=1889

If you prefer to try shoes/boots on before you buy them, my personal recommendation is the army surplus store in Westcliff. They offer quite a large stock of grade 1 (barely used) parade shoes/boots, most of which are is good condition. This is their website: http://www.armynavystores.co.uk/

However, if you don't want to travel that far you could try the army surplus in Chelmsford. But it is a smaller store with less stock, you can view their website here: http://www.essexsurplus.com/

2393 Best In Essex For Community Involvement

Several of our cadets attended the annual Essex Wing presentation of awards evening last weekend. We were very pleased to find out that this year we came top in Essex for our involvement in the local community and as such have won the George Lenard Cup. This is thanks to all our efforts attending events and activities such as Stock Fete, Billericay town litter pick, maintaining county parks and commonwealth war graves.

Well done to all cadets, staff and CWC members who have been involved in our community activities making it possible for us to win this award. Lets aim to partake in as many community service projects again this year, we have a trophy to defend! The certificate of achievement has been placed in the entrance to building one.

Positioning Of Marksman Badges

What with the use of our new air rifle range we have plenty of marksmans being achieved. All four levels of marksman (Squadron, Wing, Region and Corps) can be achieved using the air rifle. All the badges for these awards are to be positioned as follows:

Position straight and level in the bottom right corner of the brassard, 6mm in from the right and bottom edges.

DRESS REGULATIONS

Almost every activity we do requires cadets to wear uniform, either blue or Green. It is very unusual to take part in an activity which requires cadets to wear civvies

Blue uniform : Beret, correctly shaped. Hair for Males is to be neatly cut, off the ears and off the collar
Females are to wear their hair in a bun with hair nets or bands of the same colour as their hair.

Dark blue working shirts are the normnal dress, worn with the neck open and sleeves rolled up correctly.

Light blue shirts are to be worn with ties and sleeves down. The order may be given for open neck with the sleeves worn rolled up

Ties when worn are to be fastened in a windsor knot

Brassards are worn on the right sleeve with badges correctly and neatly sewn. There should be no loose threads.

Jumpers when worn are not to be folded under. Loose threads, or excess pieces of wool are to be removed
The patches are not to be ironed

Epaulettes are to lie flat on the top of the shoulder

Trousers are to be well pressed with one crease at the front and one at the rear. They should sit on the second lace hole of DMS shoes

Skirts are to neatly pressed

Shoes are to be DMS service shoes and be well bulled

Jewelry permitted is as follows

Small earstuds may be worn BY FEMALES ONLY

DPM Uniform

Although generally for outdoor activities, it is still uniform and is to be worn correctly and smartly

DPM uniform consists of

Beret
SHIRT SLEEVE ORDER

DPM shirt, neatly pressed. Sleeves rolled up in the prescribed manner. Correct rank badges are to be worn at all times
DPM trousers, correctly bloused over the boots.

At other times, green pullovers may be worn, same as shown above with blue uniform

DPM combat jackets

All buttons and ties must be fastened

Boots are to be well polished and tied up correctly

DPM Combat clothing is to be purchased by cadets

Whatever the uniform, cadets will carry their F3822 record of service books at all times when on ATC duty. Not only is this your offiocial I.D, but it contains contact details in the event of an accident

CADETS WHO FAIL TO MEET THE ABOVE STANDARDS WILL BE SENT HOME. THEY ALSO STAND TO HAVE THEIR UNIFORM TAKEN FROM THEM
