Wing First Aid Competition Results

Well done to the members of our first aid team who today attended the Wing first aid competition. Out of the 27 units in the Wing, 16 put an entry forward into the competition. The Wing First Aid Officer commented that "the standard of the competition was high" and the points were very close indeed.

We came in 10th place with a total of 82 points. 1st place goes to 276 (Chelmsford) with 121 points and 2nd place went to 1096 (Bishops Stortford) with 113 points. Both these teams will represent Essex Wing at the Regional Field Day.

Inter Squadron Athletics Results

Well done to the cadets who attended the inter squadron athletics on Sunday. We came away with Cdt Brookes winning gold in the Junior Girls 800m and Cpl Donley scoring points in the Boys B discus.

Total points scored in each of the categories are as follows:
Boys A - 0 points
Boys B - 2 points
Boys C - 0 points
Junior Girls - 8 points
Senior Girls - 0 points

Although our achievements in the 800m and discus is something to be celebrated, our overall squadron involvement in the athletics competition was poor. Out of the 27 units in Essex Wing we scored a total of 10 points bringing us in at 24th place. Many of the entries in Boys A and Boys C remained unfilled and as a result we didn't have any chance of scoring points in these categories.

Well done to the girls of the squadron who's involvement in this competition has drastically increased on last year and as a result the girls have in fact beaten the boys. Boys you need to pull your sport socks up!

Our next sporting competition will be the inter squadron swimming competition, which is scheduled to take place on 06 SEP 2014. Get the date in your diary as I am expecting a high level of input from you all.

The results from round 3 of the Corps Air Rifle Competition are in. There are 20 teams comprising of 70 cadets involved with the competition.

Our two teams are as follows:
Team A: Johnfinn, Wilby and Deacon A
Team B: Cpl Deacon T, Cpl Thorne and Cpl Donley

Team Scores (Round 3)
Team A - 1438 / 1800 - 9th

Johnfinn - 501 / 600 - 19th
Deacon A - 487 / 600 - 23rd
Cpl Thorne - 485/600 - 24th

Johnfinn - 12th
Cpl Thorne - 17th
Deacon A - 19th
Wilby - 23rd
Cpl Deacon T - 28th
Donley - 62nd (New entry)

A good effort but not our best shoot so far. Team A are only just holding on to 5th place, 37 points separate us from those in 6th place and there are 72 points between us and those in 4th.

Team B dropped 3 places from 7th to 11th place, however they are well ahead of 12th place with a huge 375 point lead and there are only 3 points between them and 10th place.

We welcome Cpl Donley to the shooting team, unfortunately as he missed rounds 1 and 2 he will be at a disadvantage on the individual overall scores, however his points still contribute to Team B's overall position.

Leading Cadet Exam Success!

It's taken a while, what with all the Ultilearn and internet problems we've been having. However, I'm very pleased to announce that Cadets Andrews, Boyle and Horner all passed their Leading Cadet exams last night, which is an excellent achievement.

I hope to be announcing even more exam passes throughout the month, good luck everyone.

Classification Exams

We have a plan for the exams!

Its been painful for us all, what with network and Ultilearn problems, however yesterday we were able to run our first successful exam session!

Leading, Senior and Master exams will be taking place throughout this month, so it's very important for you to attend Tuesday and Thursday parade nights. Ideally, we want to have all sittings of exams completed by the end of the month.

Revision materials for Leading have been published in a later post, I'll update this later with Senior and Master revision as well.

Update Your eDofE!

This has been said many times already, however I will say it again! Cadets part way through a level of the DofE need to login to the online system and upload evidence of completing the various parts.

If you don't upload the evidence then you are not going to get the award! Miss Tucker has given several lessons on how to do this. If for whatever reason you don't know how to do so or can't login then you need to tell one of us. I will be chasing individual cadets from now on if I don't start seeing evidence uploaded soon.
