Dress Standards
It came to the attention of the Commandant Air Cadets whilst she was visiting The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) of some major breaches in dress regulations:
1. A female cadet was seen wearing a tongue bar
2. Another female cadet was seen with bright blue hair
Both these points go against our dress regulation policy and having been displayed in such a public environment has prompted to Corps Warrant Officer to re-enforce our standards of dress to all.
Although neither of these cadets were from our squadron, you all need to remember that you have no idea who sees you in the public eye and that whilst in uniform you are representing the image of the Royal Air Force.
You all have various points to improve on after our last uniform inspection earlier in the month. I want to see a significant improvement from all cadets by the next inspection. Anyone who consistently fails to meet the required standards will loose the right to wear uniform. You have been warned, improve it or loose it.

Essex Wing Adventure Training & Leadership Camp (Green Camp)
Essex Wing have announced the date of Green Camp, which will be during the October half term week 25 OCT - 01 NOV 2014 at Swynnerton Training Camp in Staffordshire.
The objective of the camp is to provide cadets with adventure training, leadership and shooting activities. What with the very limited number of Blue Camp places, this is an excellent opportunity for cadets to take up and experience a camp with other squadrons in Essex Wing.
Total cost is £120, a £50 deposit is required to secure a place. The deposit should be paid by cash or cheque made out to '2393 Billericay Squadron ATC'. The balance of £70 will need to be paid in October.
To apply for a place, add your name to the event list on the notice board and return your deposit within the next 2 weeks.

Wing First Aid Competition Results
Well done to the members of our first aid team who today attended the Wing first aid competition. Out of the 27 units in the Wing, 16 put an entry forward into the competition. The Wing First Aid Officer commented that "the standard of the competition was high" and the points were very close indeed.
We came in 10th place with a total of 82 points. 1st place goes to 276 (Chelmsford) with 121 points and 2nd place went to 1096 (Bishops Stortford) with 113 points. Both these teams will represent Essex Wing at the Regional Field Day.

Inter Squadron Athletics Results
Well done to the cadets who attended the inter squadron athletics on Sunday. We came away with Cdt Brookes winning gold in the Junior Girls 800m and Cpl Donley scoring points in the Boys B discus.
Total points scored in each of the categories are as follows:
Boys A - 0 points
Boys B - 2 points
Boys C - 0 points
Junior Girls - 8 points
Senior Girls - 0 points
Although our achievements in the 800m and discus is something to be celebrated, our overall squadron involvement in the athletics competition was poor. Out of the 27 units in Essex Wing we scored a total of 10 points bringing us in at 24th place. Many of the entries in Boys A and Boys C remained unfilled and as a result we didn't have any chance of scoring points in these categories.
Well done to the girls of the squadron who's involvement in this competition has drastically increased on last year and as a result the girls have in fact beaten the boys. Boys you need to pull your sport socks up!
Our next sporting competition will be the inter squadron swimming competition, which is scheduled to take place on 06 SEP 2014. Get the date in your diary as I am expecting a high level of input from you all.

A good effort but not our best shoot so far. Team A are only just holding on to 5th place, 37 points separate us from those in 6th place and there are 72 points between us and those in 4th.
Team B dropped 3 places from 7th to 11th place, however they are well ahead of 12th place with a huge 375 point lead and there are only 3 points between them and 10th place.
We welcome Cpl Donley to the shooting team, unfortunately as he missed rounds 1 and 2 he will be at a disadvantage on the individual overall scores, however his points still contribute to Team B's overall position.

Update Your eDofE!
This has been said many times already, however I will say it again! Cadets part way through a level of the DofE need to login to the online system and upload evidence of completing the various parts.
If you don't upload the evidence then you are not going to get the award! Miss Tucker has given several lessons on how to do this. If for whatever reason you don't know how to do so or can't login then you need to tell one of us. I will be chasing individual cadets from now on if I don't start seeing evidence uploaded soon.

Operation Christmas Child
Well done and a big thank you to all cadets and staff who packed and donated a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. Today we dropped off our boxes and stayed to pack even more at the Church. All these types of activities get us noticed in the community, go towards our submission to Essex Wing for the George Leonard Cup (for the Squadron community involvement) and makes a difference to a good cause.

Operation Christmas Child
Remember to bring your shoeboxes up to the Squadron by Thursday 14th at the latest.
You need to include a £3.00 donation, which you can either do by placing cash in the envolope attached to your leaflet, or by paying online and printing your reference number off. I personally paid online, it's quite simple and more of your money will go direct to the charity.
If anyone doesn't have a shoebox then you can still get all your gifts together. We'll take them to the Church and pack them into a box there.
We will also be attending the shoebox collection and packing day on Saturday 16 Nov. Rev Paul Carr, Padre and myself would really appreciate some help on this day. We will be meeting at the squadron for 10:00 and you can stay to help for as long as you are able to do so. Parents are also welcome to attend if they want to.
